On April 15, 1986, [[Libya]] fired two [[Scud]]s at the [[LORAN-C transmitter Lampedusa|U.S. Coast Guard]] navigation station on the Italian island, in retaliation for the [[Operation El Dorado Canyon|American bombing]] of [[Tripoli]] and [[Benghazi]], and the death of [[Colonel Gaddafi]]'s daughter. However, the missiles passed over the island, landing in the sea, and caused no damage.

Лампедуза (Шаблон:Lang-it; сицилиански: Lampidusa) е остров в Средиземно море, част от провинция Агридженто, на регион Сицилия, Италия. Това е най-големият остров сред Пелагийските острови. Раположен е на 205 км от южно от о. Сицилия и 113 км източно от Тунис, това е най-южната точка на Италия. Населението наброява около 6 000 жители, препитаващи се главно с риболов, земеделие и туризъм. От години Лампедуза е известен като входна врата към Европа за хиляди бедни нелегални имигранти от Африка.[1]

Лампедуза е най-голямата част от общината на Лампедуза и Линоза, която включва също по-малките острови Линоза и Лампионе.
