There is only one copyright notice on the dust jacket, namely "PHOTO BY © LAWRENCE ROBINS 1978". The notice applies only to the photo itself and not the dust jacket as a whole because the jacket is not a collective work. Therefore the photo is copyrighted, and because of this, it has been blurred in the scan provided.

The excerpt on the back cover of the jacket is from the literary work The Stand (1978) by Stephen King. There is a copyright registration for the literary work with registration number TX0000141312. Thus the excerpt may still be copyrighted despite the lack of a copyright notice for it on the jacket. Thus the excerpt is blurred as well.

There is only one copyright registration under the name John Cayea, namely TX0001049162. It is a registration for drawings by John Cayea, as well as text by Tristan Jones, for a work titled "A Steady trade : a boyhood at sea"

Thus the remaining unblurred portions are in the public domain in the US.
