OdderBot

I request for a bot flag for OdderBot. It's a bot runned by odder @ plwiki (sysop there). It's based on pywikipedia and will be adding (if granted the bot status) interwiki links here. Actually it has a bot flag on plwiki. Currently I made a request on ar wikipedia and will make more. Regards, --odder 11:43, 27 декември 2006 (UTC)

I'm requesting bot status for my interwiki bot (pywikipedia, interwiki.py) on this wiki. I am an admin at sq:wiki, and run the bot from articles there. Mainly new articles and articles whithout iw links.   Верижката не е дълга - някой при нас решава да представя напъните на Столман за факти -> появява се статия Линукс (заглавието ни на български, ни на друг език се използва само за ядрото) -> човекът решава, че грешката е техническа и я оправя.   За теб може да са напъни, за мен са си факти - „Debian използва Linux kernel (ядрото на една операционна система), но повечето от основните ОС инструменти са създадени от GNU проекта; което е причина да носят името GNU/Linux.“ Оттам насетне можеш да ме виниш в пропагандиране на дебианска гледна точка, защото аз лично ползвам най-вече този вариант.

  Нещо повече, приемам основанията на Столман за законни, защото copyleft не е същото като обществено достояние - нещата по GNU продължават да си имат авторско право и то изисква съответното позоваване и показване на приноса. Аналогично ако позная (мой или на друг редактор) текст от Уикипедия някъде без надлежно позоваване съгласно GFDL, ще се радвам да го съдя за едната идея. Но това е доста извън тази тема. There was 351 useful edit within two new tasks (variants of "osnovna statia" into {{osnovna|...}}, and replacement of grammatically incorrect words) in the meantime. Dear ShadeOfGrey, these changes are due to these interwiki links belong to different namespaces.

In the first case, the portal of Mathematics on the wikipedia in Bulgarian is set as an "article" (Статия, namespace 0), but on most of the others is set as "portal" (namespace 100).

In the second case, "Anexo" means "Appendix" in Spanish, and the decision on the wikipedia in Spanish was to separate these articles. Thus, they do not belong to the main namespace.

The bot detects when interwiki links do not match because they belong to different namespaces. Typical mistakes could be: 'Category' (ns:14) and 'Main' (ns:0), 'User' (ns:2) and 'Main' (ns:0), etc. However, interwiki links in portals in namespace 0 can be manually maintained, and the bot can be configured to avoid editing these portals. Most likely this was caused by the bot not recognizing the fact that the article existed. The most likely cause of this was because the page about Banda over on the id Wikipedia was most likely a disambiguation. Sorry, lets reactivate me the request. There was a long lag between my request and the first reaction. So I was no longer aware of the answer. The interwiki link to the japanese page is wrong because the bulgarian article is about the species Glycyrrhiza glabra and the japanese article about the genus Glycyrrhiza (and not about Glycyrrhiza glabra).
