English: Two German Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G assault guns knocked out by the U.S. 9th Air Force at Mödrath, Northrhine-Westphalia (Germany). The original village of Mödrath (ca N 50 53' 6" E 6 43' 17") was destroyed for open-pit mining in 1956.
Official description: Two assault guns knocked out by 9th Air Force fighter-bombers near Modrath, Germany, to ease the advance of the 1st Army to Cologne. Infantrymen, one with a top hat picked up in a nearby town, sit on the disabled vehicle resting on the rim of the crater made by a bomb.
