Regional Council

Hello, I am Милош Ранчић and I am working on Serbian Wikipedia. I have action to make some kind of regional council. First, the idea was to make better relations between former Serbo-Croatian language projects (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and still live Serbo-Croatian). After I was talking with Slovenians, I relized that there is no problems to incorporate Bulgarian project in such thing. The main idea for that project is to make better regional coordination (news, events etc.) and, if it is possible, to make work on particular Wikipedias better. I think that we need to ask people on Meta to make new project for our coordination. What do you think? --Millosh 02:34, 14 юли 2004 (UTC)

Wikizine

Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

Flag

Hello, I have a question: isn't it a little POV to have a Bulgarian flag on the Main Page? I mean you are writing an encyclopedia in Bulgarian language not for Bulgarian people. calendar

Hello, I am Ktsquare from Chinese Wikipedia. Recently, I have found a homemade plate depicting proto-bulgarian zodiac calendar (http://magazinche.com/item.php?itemid=135). Does any sort of calendar being used in Bulgarian culture included a 12 years cycle, with each of 12 animals symbolizing each year? Ktsquare 02:21, 27 март 2008 (UTC)

The hypothesis is based on some interpretations of en:Nominalia of the Bulgarian khans. I believe that this is the only primary source about such calendar. --Спас Колев 15:57, 27 март 2008 (UTC)

Julian calendar until April 1916, Gregorian calendar since then. No lunar calendars or year cycles in modern times, up to my knowledge. And I think that a specifically Bulgarian astrology doesn't exist as well. --Спас Колев 16:29, 28 март 2008 (UTC)

БДС 2935:1968

Question, can anyone from Bulgaria be able to check out "БДС 2935:1968 - Българско държавно знаме." I would not be surprised this is the one with the Communist emblems on it, but the more historical data we have, the better. I grately appreciate any response about this. Virus on Bolgarian Wiki Pages

I don't see how computer viruses can embed themselves on Wiki pages. Are you on actual Wikipedia pages? It may be your computer that is affected... WhisperToMe 10:30, 9 февруари 2011 (UTC)

There is no virus in those pages, or any other in the Bulgarian Wikipedia. Your "DrWeb" is probably a virus or trojan masqueraded as this anti-virus tool. Be more careful with what you install. Deinstall it (this will remove the "application", but not the virus!), install a proper antivirus (from the real site of the antivirus manufacturer), and clean your system. -- Григор Гачев 20:01, 16 февруари 2011 (UTC)

Wiki Foundation images ruling

Hi everyone,
I am Yosri from Malay Wikipedia. Recently I was informed by certain parties that MS Wiki need to delete any images tagged as Non-Commercial under Foundation Licensing policy. After I have done some studies, I realised that Wikipedia Foundations is moving towards allowing commercialises all images, as such they are acting on behalf of commercial company to require all images loaded with tagging Non-Commercial in all Wiki Project to be removed, including those loaded in local Wiki. You are only allowed to licenses your images under "free content", which specifically allows commercial reuse, example GDLF 1.2. Certain images is excempted under a very narrow EDP ("exemption doctrine policy") definition. If you all already aware about this, please ignore this comment.
