This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1977, inclusive, without a copyright notice. Commons:Licensing: In compliance to Italian copyright law term of copyright expires according to law of 22 April 1941 n. 633, revised by the law of 22 May 2004, n. 128 article 87 and article 92, all non artistic photographs enter the public domain after 20 years counted from the beginning of the following calendar year (i.e. as of 2024, prior to the 1st of January, 2004) after they were first published, this rule is valid also for Italian film's screenshot.

The Conformist was distributed by the Paramount Pictures. It premiered in Italy and the US on 22 October 1970.[1]^{[dead link]} Screenshots were not accompanied by a copyright notice. Ergo, they are public domain.[2]
